Competition Classes

Grassroots Class

Perfect for builders new to audio competitions. Focus on learning, community engagement, and developing core audio system skills. Emphasis on participation and growth.

  • First-time competitors or less than 1 year competition experience
  • Stock or modest custom audio builds
  • Sound system quality: Entry to intermediate level equipment
  • Mentorship and learning opportunities available

Pro Class

For experienced builders with established audio systems. Higher production standards and competitive performance expectations. Advanced installation and tuning.

  • Professional or semi-professional audio builds
  • Sound system quality: Advanced components and integration
  • Technical excellence and installation quality emphasized

Elite Class

The pinnacle of sound-off competition. Championship-level builds with top-tier equipment, professional installations, and world-class audio performance.

  • 3+ years competition experience or previous podium finishes
  • Show-quality custom audio systems
  • Sound system quality: Premium components, expert integration, flawless execution
  • Championship-level standards and judging criteria

Judging Criteria

Sound-offs are evaluated by professional audio judges using standardized criteria. Each category is scored independently and weighted according to class specifications.

  • Sound Quality (40%): Overall audio fidelity, clarity, bass response, midrange presence, treble definition, and frequency balance. Professional calibration and tuning evident.
  • Installation (25%): Professional integration with motorcycle systems, hidden wiring, secure component mounting, weatherproofing, and overall craftsmanship excellence.
  • Equipment/Components (20%): Quality and appropriateness of audio equipment, amplifiers, speakers, processors, and accessories. Innovation and practical application of technology.
  • Presentation/Design (15%): Overall aesthetics, design cohesion with motorcycle, LED integration, visual impact, and professional presentation during judging.

Core Competition Rules

  • Registration: All competitors must complete registration, select competition class, and sign official liability and rules acknowledgment forms.
  • Vehicle Requirements: Motorcycle must be street-legal, properly registered, and insured. All modifications must be safely installed and functional.
  • Technical Inspection: All sound systems must pass safety inspection ensuring proper wiring, secure installation, battery integration, and no electrical hazards.
  • Judging Process: Judges will evaluate motorcycles during designated judging windows. Volume testing and sound demonstrations may be part of evaluation.
  • Fair Competition: All participants must conduct themselves professionally. Harassment, unsportsmanlike behavior, or rules violations result in disqualification.
  • One Entry Per Builder: Each builder can enter one motorcycle per class. Multiple entries possible in different classes with distinct builds.
  • Age Requirements: Builders must be 18+ years old. Motorcycle operators must have valid driver's license and be legal age to operate motorcycles.

Overview

Team Money Cycles Sound Off Series utilizes a structured class system designed to promote fair competition while allowing creativity and progression across build levels.

Critical Requirements:

  • All speakers must be visible and countable. No exceptions.
  • Down-firing applications are permitted starting in Middleweight and above.
  • SOS officials may tech any build at any time.
  • Final class placement determined by SOS Tech.

Bantamweight – Level 1
